(Montreal) Sûreté du Québec (SQ) crackdown: authorities arrested 26 men across Quebec in connection with child pornography and the sexual exploitation of children on the internet.
The Integrated Child Pornography Team (EILPJ) arrested 26 people in connection with child pornography between November 27 and 30. These are men aged 17 to 84 years old.
The arrests took place across the province, and mobilized 300 police officers and civilians.
“The individuals appeared at the courthouse linked to their place of residence to face charges of production, possession, distribution and access to child pornography,” specifies the SQ in a press release.
The police carried out several searches at the suspects’ homes and computer equipment was seized for analysis.
This large-scale operation was carried out by police officers from the investigation team into the sexual exploitation of children on the Internet (ESEI) and the Major Crimes Investigation Department (SECM) of the Sûreté du Québec ( SQ), in collaboration with the police services of Montreal, Longueuil, Laval, Quebec and Gatineau.
Other arrests also took place in New Brunswick and Ontario.
