An instructor from the Oissel police academy, in Seine-Maritime, has been suspended. He allegedly sprayed his students with water to simulate drowning, an illegal practice.
Amateur videos show student police officers, their backs against the wall, their faces covered with a cloth, sprayed with water to simulate drowning. Violent blows are dealt to them. The scene was filmed on Friday November 24 by one of the young people at the police academy by Oissel, near Rouen (Seine-Maritime). Another video shows a man choking and appearing to have difficulty breathing. These exercises are not included in official training, but are initiated by an instructor.
The suspended trainer
Thursday, November 30, the Minister of the Interior condemned this practice. “I asked for this trainer to be suspended”indicates Gérald Darmanin. Training exists to create a stressful situation before a shooting session to see how the students react. In this case, none of the rules were followed. “The police academy is not Guantanamo”, regrets Denis Jacob, secretary general of Alternative Police Nationale. An administrative investigation is opened by the IGPN.
