Assessment of COVID-19 in Quebec | 9,397 new cases, six deaths

Quebec reported on Thursday a sharp rise of 9,397 new cases of COVID-19 and six deaths. Hospitalizations are also on the rise.

In the last week, more than 36,000 new cases were recorded in the province, or 5,231 new cases per day on average. The trend is thus up by 157%.

Quebec reports six new deaths on Thursday. Since the start of the pandemic, 11,658 Quebecers have succumbed to COVID-19.

The number of hospitalizations has increased to a total of 473 people now, 28 more than the day before. There are now 91 people in intensive care, an increase of three.

The 473 people hospitalized represent an increase of 55% over one week. In intensive care, the 91 patients represent an increase of 44%.

The number of tests carried out on December 23 stood at 54,520.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 95,985 additional injections were administered, 89,924 in the last 24 hours and 6,061 before December 22.

Due to public holidays, the Ministry of Health will not release the data report from December 24 to 28 and from December 31 to January 4. Today’s full data will be released again on January 5, 2022.
