Ile-de-France Mobilités, the transport regulatory authority in the region, unveiled Monday, November 27, its price range for the period of the Olympic Games, reports France Bleu Paris. From July 20 to September 8, 2024, it will no longer be possible to purchase Navigo Day and Week. Instead, a Paris 2024 pass will be created with special pricing: 70 euros per week, compared to 30 euros currently.
The unlimited day pass will increase to 16 euros. A decreasing rate: 30 euros for two days, 42 for 3 days and up to 10 euros per day after 7 days. The single metro ticket will increase to 4 euros, compared to 2.10 euros. Holders of a monthly or annual Navigo pass are not affected by these new JO prices. This increase in prices should make it possible to finance the increase in the frequency of buses, metros and RER during the Olympics. During the two months of competition, the transport offer will be 15% higher than normal, representing an additional cost of 200 million euros. A sum that Île de France Mobilités wishes to finance with this temporary pricing. Occasional travelers should, however, take precautions to avoid paying the highest price. To avoid the 4 euro metro ticket, you will need to load tickets onto a Navigo Easy card before July 20. Once this date has passed, only the Liberté+ package will allow you to travel for €1.73 per trip.
The president of the Ile-de-France region Valérie Pécresse explains the creation of this Paris 2024 pass, in a video posted on X: “There is no question of Ile-de-France residents paying this cost.”
A new price for the Navigo pass from January 2024
Another increase this time concerns all subscribers of the monthly Navigo pass: this should cost 86.40 euros from January 1, 2024, an increase of more than two euros. This new price must be submitted to a vote by the Ile-de-France Mobilités board of directors on December 7. In 2023 the Navigo pass had already increased from 75.20 euros to 84.10 euros.
