This Saturday, November 25, at the Berlioz Opera in Montpellier, Kyle Eastwood, composer and double bassist, was accompanied by his quintet as well as the Montpellier symphony orchestra. The objective: to take the public on a musical journey through the immense filmography of Clint Eastwood. “The project is a tribute to my father, but also to all the great composers and musicians who created the music for his films“, says Kyle Eastwood.
Music icons revisited
Ennio Morricone, Lalo Schifrin, John Williams… For nearly two hours, Kyle Eastwood and his musicians revisit big names in music. A formidable challenge, taken up by Gast Waltzing, the Luxembourg conductor who did not hesitate to play with the icons.
“Morricone with The good, the bad and the ugly, it’s incredible. When I heard this theme, I was like wow, but it’s crazy. That’s why I too tried to make this completely crazy piece and I hope that if he hears it, he would be All right“, laughs Gast Waltzing.
The show is a true declaration of filial love for music and cinema. These are the two passions of the Eastwood family, says son Kyle: “I grew up listening to a lot of music, especially jazz. Both my parents are big jazz fans. I also grew up watching a lot of movies. These are my two passions, music and cinema. So it’s true, I have to thank my father for passing on to me the love of these two art forms.“
