“Justice for Thomas”, “Islam outside Europe”. Here are the slogans chanted by 80 ultra-right activists on Saturday November 25 in the La Monnaie district of Romans-sur-Isère (Drôme). They were quickly chased away by the police. In total, 17 police custody was recorded following this demonstration.
Thomas’ death ignites the far right
HAS following this descent, the prefect of Drôme reacted. “There was a terrible tragedy a few days ago in a village around Romans but that cannot explain or validate this desire to fight which took place last night”, said Thierry Devimeux. Thomas’ death has inflamed the far right for a week. In Cherbourg (Manche), Islamophobic tags were written in red letters on two mosques. Several far-right movements are calling for a nationalist month of November.
