The government announces emergency aid of 600 euros, on average, for women victims of domestic violence. It will be paid by CAF from December 1st.
The fight against violence against women is one of the major causes of Emmanuel Macron’s five-year term. To help victims of domestic violence leave their homes, the government announced, a few days ago, the generalization of emergency aid: financial aid of an average of 600 euros, paid by the Allocation Fund family.
Insufficient for associations
Insufficient, according to the associations. “It is an amount which is extremely insignificant compared to the expenses that the victims must incur, if they have to leave their homes. First of all, quite simply the legal costs. The lawyer’s costs are between 4 000 and 6,000 euros”, comments Célia Levy, member of the Nous Tous collective. In addition, the assistance is conditional on a protection order, a filing of a complaint or a report sent to the public prosecutor.
