While the first 13 Israeli hostages from Hamas were released on Friday, November 24, the majority of the families of those kidnapped remain without news of their loved ones. The wait is unbearable.

Friday, November 24, the first 13 Israeli hostages were released by Hamas. In the so-called hostage house in Tel Aviv (Israel), there are those who are relieved and those who continue to worry. They cling to portraits of their loved ones, those who were not on the list of those released today and who, once again, will spend the night in captivity. “I am happy for the families whose loved ones have returned, but I am sad because she is not my daughter”explains Meirav Ieshem Gonen whose 23-year-old daughter is still detained by Hamas.

The fear persists. Indeed, if today’s releases took place, some wonder about the duration of such an agreement. “Honestly, it’s a nightmare. I’m trying to stay hopeful, but we have to remember that this is a terrorist organization.”, deplores a woman. In the negotiations, women and children were at the heart of the discussions. Those who are waiting for the return of a son, a husband or a father do not know what the future holds and ask the authorities not to forget them.
