Marie Toussaint, EELV MEP, was the guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday November 24.
Marie Toussaint will be the head of the Europe Écologie-Les Verts list in the 2024 European elections. The surge of the far right during the elections, as in the Netherlands recently, is worrying. “It is a catastrophe what is happening in Europe. It is a catastrophe which puts at risk the existence of the European project itself, which puts at stake our values, on which the European Union stands ‘is based”explains Marie Toussaint, EELV MEP, guest of “4 Vérités” on France 2, Friday November 24. “Today we have a growing alliance of the right at the level of the European Union, which is coming to power in Italy, in Finland, in Sweden, perhaps tomorrow in the Netherlands, which is coming together against ecology”she adds.
“We consume too much”
There is a difference in approach in the government on Black Friday, between Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, and Christophe Béchu, Minister of Ecological Transition. “I see that Christophe Béchu has shown a certain courage, particularly in the face of Bruno Le Maire, who wishes to promote infinite consumption. […] You can’t chase infinite growth in a finite world.”specifies the head of the list of environmentalists in the 2024 European elections. “In reality, the more we consume, the more water we take from nature, water is running out. Today there are millions of French people who are struggling to have access to water at home. tap and not only in Mayotte. […] We consume too much, we must fight against this overconsumption”she adds.
