Babylons has a big heart. Just one year after the release of his last microalbum, It’s life that lost methe duo formed by Charles Blondeau and Benoît Philie is back with Humans. There follow twelve vulnerable and luminous pieces, born from co-writing with Stéphanie Boulay, the Boulay sisters, and various collaborations (François Lafontaine, Gabrielle Shonk and Étienne Dupré). We thus find in this new album all the sweetness and enthusiasm of the poetic pop-rock specific to the group, which flirts with both psychedelic music and lyrical songs. Indeed, if the themes evoked throughout the titles sometimes embody dependence, sometimes heartbreak, let us salute the strength of an ensemble which tells all kinds of stories in a tone that is always funny down to earth. We particularly enjoy Cannibalwhich, from the first notes, offers us that little something at odds with its name and rather recalls candor, melancholy and absurdity.
