Tickets for the secular ceremony in honor of Cowboys Fringants singer Karl Tremblay sold out within minutes of being made available.
The event was sold out about twenty minutes after it went on sale for the evening which will take place on November 28, at 7 p.m., at the Bell Center in Montreal. A limited number of passes to attend were offered to the general public.
Karl Tremblay passed away on November 15 as a result of prostate cancer that he had been battling for several years. The Cowboys Fringants have since found themselves overwhelmed by a wave of love.
The Prime Minister, François Legault, also announced on Wednesday the creation of a register of condolences, as well as the lowering, next Tuesday, of the Quebec flag on the central tower of the Parliament Building.
The group has received numerous distinctions, including the Medal of Honor from the National Assembly for its contribution to the influence of the French language and French-speaking music.
