this thing that David Hallyday never forgave his father

He is back in the media spotlight. On the occasion of the release of his work entitled Best Albuman autobiography in which he notably evokes his childhood in the spotlight or even the death of his father, David Hallyday was the guest of Léa Salamé this Monday, November 20, 2023 in the morning show of France Inter.

“When you love your parents and one of them leaves, obviously it’s something violent,” the musician then declared, obviously referring to his father’s death from lung cancer in December 2017.

“When we are young, we seek the love of our parents, we seek to exist among them, whether they are artists or not. Love is the characteristic of human beings. When we grow up we judge them (the parents) and sometimes we forgive them. I have forgiven, we will say 99%… I think we have to forgive, otherwise we can’t move forward. We have to free ourselves.”added Alexandra Pastor’s husband.

Statements that piqued the journalist’s curiosity. Indeed, Léa Salamé then tried to identify what the remaining percentage corresponded to… And she didn’t take long to find it! “His death was stolen from me…”, Laura Smet’s big brother immediately clarified.

“We can’t redo the book”

“The rest doesn’t matter, but that’s something we can’t [rattraper]. We cannot redo the book… This is my suffering. We never get over that, but we move forward in life and we can continue to create.”continued the interpreter of A free man who still prefers to see the glass half full!
