France detailed on Sunday November 19 the operational support it will provide to the Middle East in the coming days. “France is mobilizing all the means at its disposal to help evacuate injured or sick children from the Gaza Strip to its hospitals who need urgent care”explained the French presidency. “Medical air assets, both civilian and military, will be deployed for this purpose”specifies the Elysée in a press release.
“A new charter of a plane carrying more than 10 tonnes of medical cargo for the start of the week” was also announced. “France will also contribute to the European effort with medical equipment on board European flights on November 23 and 30”, added the Elysée. France is also preparing to send “in the coming days” the Dixmude helicopter carrier. It will be configured to offer “hospital support” in Gaza, will set sail “Start of the week” And “will arrive in Egypt in the coming days”specified the French presidency.
The day before, Emmanuel Macron took stock with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim ben Hamad Al-Thani, and the Egyptian President, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, on the situation of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza as well as on the ongoing negotiations. The French Minister of the Armed Forces, Sébastien Lecornu, was in this Gulf state on Saturday which is conducting mediation to obtain their release.
