The captain and scrum half of the XV of France Antoine Dupont will “integrate”, in January, “the group which will prepare the Olympic Games” 2024 in rugby sevens, indicated, Wednesday November 15, 2023, the French Rugby Federation (FFR ) to the AFP. As a result, Fabien Galthié’s XV of France will have to do without its star for the next Six Nations Tournament, which will begin on February 2, 2024 in Marseille against Ireland.
All stakeholders agreed after the World Cup ended in the quarter-finals against South Africa (29-28), so that the French rugby superstar could try his luck at the Olympics. With this in mind, the Toulouse player will participate in the world circuit, starting with the two tournaments in Vancouver (February 23-25) and Los Angeles (March 2-3), with the Blues, currently fourth in the world rankings, that is- that is to say in the middle of the Six Nations Tournament.
The integration of Antoine Dupont (27 years old, 52 caps) into the group which will prepare for the rugby sevens event of the Olympic Games will be officially announced on Monday November 20 on the sidelines of a D-250 event organized by the FFR. Note that Antoine Dupont will still have to convince the general manager of the French sevens rugby team, Christophe Reigt, and the coach, Jérôme Daret.
