Monday Night in the NHL | Leon Draisaitl scores 4 points in Oilers’ 4-1 win over Islanders

(Edmonton) Leon Draisaitl scored a goal and three assists and the Edmonton Oilers defeated the New York Islanders 4-1 on Monday in their first game since their coaching change.

Connor McDavid scored and added an assist. Zach Hyman and Evander Kane also found the back of the net for the Oilers, who have won two games in a row. It was their first home win this season for them.

Mathew Barzal scored the goal for the Islanders, who lost a fifth straight game.

The Oilers did not have the desired start to the game, in Kris Knoblauch’s first game at the helm of the team. The Oilers saw the puck get stuck in their zone, and Bo Horvat took the opportunity to give the puck to Barzal. The latter fired a slap shot, which beat goaltender Stuart Skinner on the glove side, after 40 seconds of play.

The Oilers tied the game with six minutes left in the first period. Draisaitl beat defender Sebastian Aho before scoring his sixth goal of the campaign, beating goaltender Ilya Sorokin.

The Oilers took a 2-1 lead on the power play. McDavid passed the puck to Hyman, who scored an eighth goal this season and a fourth in two games.
