The main subcontractors of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees transporting water by truck no longer have fuel to circulate, the head of the institution announced on Monday.
The war between Israel and Hamas entered its 38th day on Monday November 13 and the head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) warned of the deterioration of their working conditions which should lead, in the next few hours, at the end of their humanitarian operations in Gaza. UN humanitarian operations coming to an end
The humanitarian situation could further deteriorate in Gaza. The head of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) in the enclave warned that “Humanitarian operations will cease within 48 hours, with no fuel allowed into Gaza”besieged by Israel and prey to fighting between Hamas and Israel.
"There’s nothing we can do," Thomas White told reporters in Jerusalem, confirming his warning issued about X a few hours earlier. The UN agency has its back against the wall because two of its main subcontractors transporting water by truck no longer have fuel to circulate, “which will deprive 200,000 people of drinking water” he explained.
Israeli army confirms identity of Hamas hostage soldier
The Israeli army has confirmed the identity of a female soldier held hostage by Hamas, after the publication by the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamist movement of a video showing the young woman in captivity.
“Our hearts go out to the Marciano family, whose daughter, Noa, was brutally kidnapped by the Hamas terrorist organization”wrote the army in a press release, thus confirming for the first time the identity of one of the approximately 240 people taken as hostages in the Gaza Strip during the bloody Hamas attack against Israel on October 7.
Hamas ‘has lost control in Gaza,’ Israel says
Hamas “lost control in Gaza” and his fighters “flee to the south”, said Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after more than five weeks of war with the Palestinian Islamist movement. Civilians “are looting Hamas bases. They no longer believe in the government [du Hamas]” in power in the small Palestinian territory, relentlessly shelled by Israel and plunged into a catastrophic humanitarian situation, the minister also assured in a video message broadcast by several television channels.
A tribute paid “soon” to the French victims
President Emmanuel Macron will chair a “national tribute ceremony” to the French people who died during the Hamas attack against Israel as soon as “their number and identity will be established with certainty”, affirmed the Head of State in a response addressed Monday to Eric Ciotti, the president of the Les Républicains party. The latest French victim toll stands at 40 dead and eight missing, including hostages.
Joe Biden asks Israel to protect al-Chifa hospital
The US president called on Israel to protect Gaza’s main hospital. “I hope and expect less intrusive actions regarding the hospital” al-Chifa, said Joe Biden, when asked by reporters if he had spoken about it with Israeli leaders.
A speech which comes at a time when the situation is complicated around health establishments, mainly in Gaza City, at the heart of the fighting between the Israeli army and Hamas. According to the authorities, “all hospitals” of the northern Gaza Strip are now “out of service”. The Israeli army said it had “clues” showing that Hamas fighters held hostages in a children’s hospital in the Gaza Strip that they had kidnapped during their attack on October 7.
