March against anti-Semitism: the political class is there
March against anti-Semitism: the political class is there – (franceinfo)
Sunday, November 12, on the occasion of the great march against anti-Semitism organized in Paris, political figures from almost all sides made the trip.
The French political class was united behind the same banner, for a march for the Republic and against anti-Semitism, organized on Sunday November 12 in Paris and started to the sound of the Marseillaise. A gathering at the initiative of the presidents of the two assemblies. Elected officials, members of the government, Prime Minister or even former presidents, Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande… Almost all responded. “We want to tell our fellow citizens of the Jewish religion that we are at their side, that we are mobilized and that we will not let anything pass”declared Élisabeth Borne.
LFI absent in Paris
Right-wing elected officials were also present, further along in the procession. The National Rally (RN) was also present at the back of the procession. Marine Le Pen called on all her voters to participate in the demonstration. “We are exactly where we need to be”, she insisted. But his presence arouses controversy. His father had created the National Front with former anti-Semitic collaborationists.
On the left, La France insoumise (LFI) is the only NUPES party absent in Paris. The elected officials of La France insoumise preferred the streets of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), where the RN was not welcome. The Paris demonstration dispersed at nightfall. No incidents were reported at all of the gatherings in France.
