A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office says Trudeau will focus on ways to drive climate-friendly economic growth with Canada’s allies and partners.
The Canadian delegation will focus in particular on the liberalization and opening of trade and investment, on business opportunities arising from the digital economy and on “women’s economic empowerment”.
Mr. Trudeau is also committed to fostering open economic cooperation and the elimination of trade barriers for the benefit of people on both sides of the Pacific Ocean, “as Canada increases and diversifies its presence in the Indo-Pacific region. “.
Like previous APEC meetings, this year’s summit, November 11-17, is expected to be accompanied by large public protests around issues such as climate change and income inequality.
