Politics: Éric Dupond-Moretti in court – (France 2)
Éric Dupond-Moretti is on trial, starting Monday, November 6. The Minister of Justice is suspected of illegal taking of interests.
In the trial which opens, Éric Dupond-Moretti stakes his future in politics. The justice minister is one of the government’s best-known faces, a reputation gained as a criminal lawyer. Monday, November 6, it is he who must answer for his actions before the Court of Justice of the Republic. He is accused of having wanted to settle scores with magistrates as minister.
Disciplinary investigation against magistrates
The minister had filed a complaint against the National Financial Prosecutor’s Office. Once a minister, he launched a disciplinary investigation against these same magistrates. “The fault which is accused of Dupond-Moretti is to have continued, as Keeper of the Seals, a quarrel which he himself had initiated as a lawyer and therefore used his ministerial function for private ends”explains Me Jérôme Karsenti, lawyer for the Anticor association.
