The common union front bringing together 420,000 workers in the public and parapublic sectors will be on strike again on November 21, 22 and 23.
“Today we announce [lundi] the moment of the second strike sequence which will be held over three full days. Our message this morning is clear: our negotiating teams are fully available for the next two weeks,” declared François Enault, first vice-president of the CSN, Éric Gingras, president of the CSQ, Magali Picard, president of the FTQ and Robert Comeau, president of the APTS, in a press release.
“No one wants another sequence of strikes, but we will be ready if necessary,” they added.
The common union front is also holding its first day of strike on Monday. It takes place from midnight to 10:30 a.m. in primary and secondary schools and until noon in CEGEPs.

In the health and social services network, employees strike for 20 to 50% of their working time, depending on their type of job and the functions they occupy. Essential services are maintained.
In October, the Common Front announced that its strike mandate had received a “historic” 95% support from its members. The adopted mandate provides for the ultimate resort to an indefinite general strike.
Last week, the Legault government offered salary increases of 10.3% over five years for the 600,000 state employees, in addition to bonuses representing 3% for certain categories of workers and a lump sum for all of 1,000 $ the first year.
This new offer from the Legault government was deemed “derisory” and “insulting” by the common union front, which is demanding salary increases representing around 20% over three years.
