The trial of Éric Dupond-Moretti for illegal taking of interests opens Monday, November 6 before the Court of Justice of the Republic. Present on the 8 Heures set, journalist Guillaume Daret indicated that the Minister of Justice retains the confidence of the executive.
The Minister of Justice appears from Monday, November 6 for illegal taking of interests before the Court of Justice of the Republic (CJR). “This is unheard of” for a minister in office, indicated the journalist Guillaume Daret, present on the set of 8 Heures. The CJR is “the only one authorized to judge a member of the government for acts that he is accused of having committed during the exercise of his functions”recalled Guillaume Daret.
“If he is convicted, he will of course have to resign”
The Keeper of the Seals “retains the confidence of the President of the Republic, who reappointed him after his re-election in 2022, while many announced Éric Dupond-Moretti leaving the government”continued the journalist. “Confidence also from the Prime Minister, since ultimately no interim decree was issued. This means that he remains Minister of Justice during the ten days of this trial”added Guillaume Daret. “If he is convicted, he will of course have to resign. This is the rule that the Prime Minister reiterated at the beginning of October”he concluded.
