The Air Force, which is responsible for coordinating all anti-drone actions, because drones have today become a real threat, particularly during events such as the Rugby World Cup. All information on the ground is analyzed in real time to detect and control drone flights over a radius of several kilometers.
Around fifty devices detected in two months
After 48 matches monitored throughout France as well as numerous training sites for the various national teams, the anti-drone mission was a success: more than fifty unauthorized devices were detected over the entire two months competition. “None had malicious intent, that is to say an intention to harm people or the competition, but it shows that we must remain attentive”says Colonel Bruno Paupy.
