A young Jewish woman attacked with a knife at her home in Lyon, the prosecution evokes a possible “anti-Semitic motive”

A young Jewish woman was stabbed on Saturday, November 4, at her home in the 3rd arrondissement of Lyon (Rhône), the prosecution said. She was targeted by an unidentified individual, who fled. Hit in the abdomen, the victim was transported to hospital and is in “State of shock” according to Stéphane Draï, his lawyer, interviewed by BFMTV. According to the Lyon public prosecutor’s office, “the act could be motivated by an anti-Semitic motive”. Still according to Stéphane Draï,The emergency services and the victim’s relatives “noted the presence of a swastika on his door”without specifying whether or not this hateful inscription predated the attack.

On X (formerly Twitter), the mayor of Lyon Grégory Doucet strongly denounced this attack. “Such a surge of violence is unspeakable. All my support to the victim, to his loved ones”, did he declare. The Lyon prosecutor’s office announced that an investigation into “attempted murder” had been opened, confirming that the victim’s life was not in danger and that“no arrests” has not taken place at this stage.
