Ukraine is experiencing its 615th day of conflict, Wednesday November 1st. A Russian strike on a refinery, the words of a UN official and North Korean shells. Here is what we must remember from this day of war.

Image of the day: a refinery targeted by a Russian strike

Firefighters attempted to put out a fire at a refinery in central Ukraine. A Russian strike targeted this refinery, causing damage but no casualties. Ukrainian authorities fear that Russia will intensify its strikes against energy structures as winter approaches, as was the case in 2022. In total, over the last 24h118 Ukrainian localities were targeted by the Russians.

Quote of the day: “It is important not to lose sight of other crises”

The sentence to remember is that of a UN humanitarian official who spoke to the Security Council on Tuesday. “While much of the international attention East concentrated rightly on the serious events in the Middle East, it is important not to lose sight of other crises, especially one as brutal and far-reaching as that caused by the war in Ukraine”said Ramesh Rajasingham.

Today’s figure: 1 million shells

Today’s figure is 1 million artillery shells allegedly delivered to North Korea by Russia. This is information from the Korean intelligence services. In total, there have been 10 arms deliveries from Pyongyang since August.
