Real estate investor Luc Poirier has just made a masterstroke by selling land paid for $20M, in 2015, more than $240M to the Swedish company Northvolt, which bought it with a repayable loan from Quebec
According to documents consulted by The newspaperLuc Poirier got his hands on 318 football fields in Saint-Basile-le-Grand and McMasterville, in Montérégie eight years ago.
It was sold on Halloween to the Swedish company Northvolt, which wants to build its mega-factory there with 3,000 workers.
It is unknown how much profit was made due to the investments and/or other decontamination work that may have been done.
“For those wondering, this is also the new record in Quebec history for the largest land sale,” Luc Poirier said on Facebook.
The newspaper was unable to reach Luc Poirier on Wednesday. His Quartier MC2 group, which is selling the land with him, declined our interview requests.
In Saint-Basile-le-Grand (82% of the land), the municipal assessment amounts to $1.6 million and in McMasterville (18% of the land), to $7.8 million, for a total of 9. $4 million.
Luc Poirier billionaire?
Last year, The newspaper had reported that former Occupation Double participant, Luc Poirier, was a hair’s breadth away from becoming a billionaire.
Questioned by a real estate broker on the social network TikTok, he claimed that his net worth was “between 500 million and a billion” dollars.
He had mentioned that he thought he would become a billionaire in the “next few years”.
