Emmanuel Macron looks forward to his life afterward. “It’s likely I’ll do something completely different when I’m finished,” in 2027, at the end of two terms as President of the Republic (he cannot run for a third term), said the Head of State, Wednesday November 1, during an exchange with students at the University of Astana, during his visit to Kazakhstan.

“But I will be very happy to have served my country for ten years as president,” he pointed out. “And this opportunity could be yours”, he insisted. Encouraging students to be no matter what “engaged in political life and public choices”the President of the Republic affirmed that “Politics is not the exclusive domain of a handful of people.”

The defense of “at the same time”

“In a democracy, public life is yours. And it’s your duty, your responsibility and I think it’s a wonderful experience,” continued Emmanuel Macron. “I tell you this because I was not a member of a political party, I was not a politician, a few months before being elected president”argued the man who was still deputy secretary general of the Elysée (2012-2014) then minister of the Economy (2014-2016) before running for the 2017 presidential election.

The Head of State took the opportunity to defend, during his 50 minutes of discussions with the students, his policy of “at the same time”, between “freedom” And “order”, also emphasizing the need to “keep the spirit of resistance” even when his action is “unpopular”.
