It is from this Wednesday, November 1st that the price of the consultation increases with the doctor. You will now have to pay 26.50 euros for a consultation with general practitioners who do not charge excess fees, and 31.50 euros with specialists, an increase of 1.50 euros.
This increase was granted by an arbitrator last spring, after the failure of negotiations between doctors’ unions and Medicare. The unions demanded an increase of several euros without compensation.
Negotiations will resume in the coming days, and this time, the doctors’ unions say they feel the Health Insurance representatives are more attentive to their grievances. So this price of 26.50 euros per consultation could increase. “The last increase in the price of the consultation dates from 2017. It will not have escaped you that inflation is there. Our consultation should be 30 euros today if we just take inflation into account”calculates Dr Agnès Giannotti, president of MG France, which represents general practitioners.
“1.50 euros is totally insufficient. We really hope that it will be very, very, very temporary because otherwise, quite simply, the profession will not be able to cope.”

Temporary perhaps, but assuming that unions and Health Insurance agree on a new price, the time to complete these new negotiations and then implement the measure, the price of the consultation should not increase again before at least six months, or even a year.
