The group, at the head of 43 establishments in France and 1,300 employees, had been the subject of audits which had revealed “difficulties at the operational level”, according to the government.

The government has decided to launch two administrative investigations against the group of private nursing homes Medicharme, the Ministry of Solidarity announced on Friday October 27. The conclusions of this work are expected at the beginning of 2024. The government’s decision follows checks carried out with the group as part of a control plan for the 7,500 French nursing homes launched in September 2022, in response to the Orpéa scandal. They had “allowed to reveal difficulties at operational level” from Medicharme. They also resulted in the assessment of the financial situation “degraded” of the group, according to a mission letter from the Ministries of Public Accounts, Labor and Solidarity, addressed to the inspections, reveals AFP.
The investigations will be carried out by the General Inspectorate of Finance and that of Social Affairs. They will concentrate particularly on the “commercial, financial and managerial practices” of the company, the “effective staff presence time” among residents, as well as on “reporting methods” of incidents, according to a press release from the Ministry of Solidarity. In a statement sent to AFP, the Medicharme group ensures that it is working “serenely” with state services and await the results of their work “which will be communicated transparently”.
