“Daft Punk blurred the lines between reality and fiction”
Remember, in February 2021, the most famous robot duo in the world bowed out after 28 years of career, by sharing on the Web an extract from their feature film “Electroma”soberly titled “Epilogue”. We had to wait until April 2023 to find out more about this announcement which traumatized fans!
“Daft Punk was a project that blurred the lines between reality and fiction with these robot characters”he confided to the BBC. “It was a very important point for me and Guy-Manuel not to spoil the narrative as it unfolded. I love technology as a tool, but I’m sort of terrified of the nature of the relationship between machines and us.”
“Rise of artificial intelligence”
“My fears about the rise of artificial intelligence go beyond its use in music creation,” he continues. “In Daft Punk, we were trying to use these machines to express something extremely emotional, that a machine can’t feel, but a human can. We were always on the side of humanity and not on the side technology… As much as I love this character, the last thing I want to be, in the world we live in, in 2023, is a robot.”. But then what will the set list be for July 2024? Mystery…
