A man was arrested Thursday in Loire-Atlantique, three days after the terrorist attack which cost the lives of two Swedes on Monday October 16 in the Belgian capital.

Was the author of the deadly terrorist attack helped by other radicalized people in Europe? This is the question that Belgian investigators are trying to answer, less than a week after the terrorist attack which cost the lives of two Swedes on Monday October 16 in the city center of Brussels.

A man was arrested on Thursday October 19 in France, in the Loire-Atlantique department. This arrest “is linked to the investigation opened in Belgium”the national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office told franceinfo, confirming information from AFP.

The French national anti-terrorism prosecutor’s office indicated that it had opened an investigation on Tuesday, October 17, for criminal terrorist association, “following information which [leur] were transmitted by the Belgian judicial authorities“, about this attack.

Belgian investigators are seeking to determine whether the perpetrator of the attack, Abdesalem Lassoued, was in contact with other radicalized individuals in other European countries. The author was shot dead by Belgian police the day after the attack, on Tuesday October 17.
