The Quai d’Orsay announced on Friday October 20 that around fifty French people had asked to leave the Gaza Strip, two weeks after the start of the conflict between Israel and Hamas on October 7.
The Foreign Ministry says they are in contact with the French consulate in Jerusalem. France negotiates with Egypt in order to get them out of the warring territory. The vast majority of these French people are already in the south of the Gaza Strip.
30 French nationals killed in Israel and seven missing
The report shows 30 French people killed in Hamas attacks, the international editorial staff of Radio France learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday October 20. Seven French people are still missing.
The identifications of the French people killed proved complicated. “Some take longer than others because bodies have been mutilated“, specifies the ministry.
