On October 23, the biodiversity lotto, a new scratch game from Française des Jeux, will be launched. A portion will be donated to the Biodiversity Office and 20 projects have been selected. How it works ? Lighting.
Protecting the Hermann tortoise in the Var, perpetuating the presence of Europe’s largest raptor in the Alps… 20 projects have been selected for the biodiversity lottery, a new scratch game from Française des Jeux intended to finance actions protection of biodiversity. In Mont-Saint-Michel (Manche), it is the wetlands which will benefit from the funds, because the site is threatened by global warming. Reed plantations maintain biodiversity in this tourist site. “The project will be to re-dig these wetlands, to be able to keep water longer”explains Audrey Hermon, responsible for the environment at Mont-Saint-Michel.
Raise awareness through play
A new game on the same principle as the heritage lotto. But for visitors, the stakes are higher. “It helps raise awareness among young people about biodiversity. When we see what we have, it’s magnificent”, indicates a tourist. Six million euros will help finance these ecological projects.
