With three French clubs out of the sixteen entered in the group stage of the Champions League, it was certain that fate would not be favorable to them all. After the draw, Friday October 20, it is Olympique Lyonnais who are doing the best, with upcoming confrontations against Slavia Prague (Czech Republic), Sankt Pölten (Austria) and Brann (Norway). The two clubs in the capital are less polished.
Paris Saint-Germain, placed in hat 2, was guaranteed to inherit one of the favorites. If he avoids FC Barcelona, he will face Bayern Munich, AS Roma and Ajax Amsterdam. As for Paris FC, which was placed in hat 4 for its first participation in the Champions League, it inherits a very tough group, with the 2021 European vice-champions, Chelsea, as well as Real Madrid, and the Swedes of BK Häcken, accustomed to European games. But after eliminating a semi-finalist, Arsenal, and the finalists of the last edition, Wolfsburg, in the qualifying phase, the players of the capital proved that they could bring down favorite teams on paper.
