Between Mathieu and Alexandre, everything goes very quickly since their love at first sight on the set of Love is in the meadow in 2020. The couple has already passed the ring on their finger this summer surrounded by all their relatives, including Karine Le Marchand who notably presented the secular ceremony, and now plans to host a child or even two ! And like many homosexual couples before them such as Christophe Beaugrand and Ghislain Gerin or Marc-Olivier Fogiel and François Roelants, Mathieu and Alexandre have opted for the GPA (surrogacy). A practice still prohibited in France and very expensive which makes it difficult to access. But, determined, the 44-year-old farmer and his 20-year-old younger brother are ready to do anything to make their dream of becoming parents come true.
“We will start all the procedures in the spring. We have already contacted the doctors and the clinic before continuing with the various medical visits. And then, we have not yet decided on the country. Ukraine is an economic facility while the United States is a legal guarantee. We visualize both and we will make our decision during the winter“, explained Mathieu during an interview for Gala published this October 25, 2021.
The Camargue bull breeder, however, does not hide his face and knows that he is embarking with his husband on a perilous project on all points. He is already beginning to be confronted with the negative aspects. “We go to an obstacle courset for two reasons. First, it requires a financially huge energy. If you want two children, like us, it’s 200,000 euros. It’s going to be months and months of toil, of unsecured risk in the end to make it work. Then it is an administrative and legal fight. And above all, it’s an ideological fight on the way you take it all in the face especially when you are a little bit exposed like us. Right now, with Alexandre, we have a digital raid on Instagram from the Manif pour Tous. It’s hell. These are people who insult and threaten us. So it’s a fight and a lot of people find it hard to grasp the difficulty we’re going towards. But we go there with strength, desire and conviction. We are going to fight!“, he announced.
