(Laval) A sixty-year-old from Laval whom police believe is responsible for sexual assaults on minor girls may have caused other victims who are invited by investigators to come forward.
Jean-Claude Deslauriers, who is 64 years old, was arrested two months ago, on August 18, in connection with files of sexual contact and sexual assault perpetrated on minor victims.
According to the Laval Police Service (SPS) investigation, between the summer of 2022 and last August. The suspect, who owns dogs, is said to have welcomed young girls of minor age to his home in the Sainte-Rose district. On the scene, he allegedly touched the young victims.
Jean-Claude Deslauriers faces charges of sexual assault, sexual contact against minor victims, as well as non-compliance with conditions. He was released following his appearance in court and must respect certain conditions.
His case will return to the Court of Quebec on December 6.
Jean-Claude Deslauriers’ file was brought to the attention of the management structure for investigations into serial crimes (GECS), coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), because several victims were identified. This provincial coordination allows for the pooling of police resources and aims to better protect victims.
