(Toronto) Toronto FC captain Michael Bradley has announced he will retire at the end of the season.
Bradley, 36, will play his final career match on Saturday when Orlando City SC visits Toronto.
The midfielder’s career spans 19 years. He played for seven teams in Europe and North America and served as captain of the United States national team.
Bradley joined Toronto FC in January 2014 as a Designated Player, along with Jermain Defoe. The English striker left the team after one season, but Bradley has become a pillar.
Bradley recently completed his 300e appearance, in all competitions, with Toronto FC.
Bradley and TFC (4-19-10) endured a disastrous season in which the team remained near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Bradley’s father, Bob, was fired from his positions as head coach and athletic director at the end of June.
