The readership of Duty will have noted over the passing months of new signatures, a sign of hiring in particular on the side of journalists. The family of Duty continues to grow in all the essential functions that support the life of the editorial staff. Today I am announcing some important movements within our team of executives, on the side of the deputy directors of information.
After having managed the cultural section with an elegant and firm hand for more than six years, Louise-Maude Rioux Soucy will join our team of editorial writers for the benefit of readers who discover – or rediscover – a fine wit in an exquisite quill. Ms. Rioux Soucy will also be responsible for the Opinion section of the Duty, where she will be responsible for giving new impetus to the Ideas pages and the art of debate on all our platforms. The strength of the ideas and arguments of our columnists, collaborators and readers continues over time and we honor this important part of our content by entrusting it with the reins of this section.
The cultural section will not be outdone, with the return to Duty from our former colleague Véronique Chagnon, who returns to the fold after a stay of more than two years at the deputy editor-in-chief of the magazine New project. Véronique arrived at Duty in 2012 as a lecturer, and until her departure in 2019, she was in turn head of desk, head of division and finally deputy director of information in general and in politics. Since 2019, she has added editorial supervision skills to the content of New project and support for the magazine’s authors, whose production she coordinated. We are happy to open our door to him again and to rediscover his forces of ideation, editorial direction and supervision. Véronique will follow the path brilliantly traced by her predecessor, Louise-Maude Rioux Soucy.
One last change, and not the least: Paul Cauchon, who currently heads our Opinion section, will henceforth be responsible for bringing the editorial management of our new partnership with the publishing house Somme tout to life in our company. By partnering with the publisher of Somme tout Serge Théroux, The duty intends to highlight in the form of books its current and archived content produced by its journalists and collaborators. Mr. Cauchon, who in a former life merged with the world of publishing and bookstores, approaches this new mandate with great enthusiasm.
