“One of the most shameful measures”, Christophe Willem shocked and mobilized alongside the homeless!

A few days after the investigation highlighting the poor sanitary conditions in which street vendors’ pancake batters are kept, another piece of news shocked the Web as well as several associations.

This Tuesday, October 10, the Paris police headquarters implemented a ban on the distribution of food and drinking water to migrants and the homeless in several Parisian neighborhoods for a month in order to slow down the formation of camps.

The particularly targeted districts are the 10th and 19th arrondissements of Paris. The police headquarters stated in its press release that it is in this area that “these food distributions generate, by their recurring nature, an increase in the population benefiting from these operations and that they contribute, as a corollary, to stimulating the formation of camps in the sector of Boulevard de la Villette, where migrants are found, drug addicts and homeless people.

If 398 people sleeping on the street were “sheltered” according to the authorities, this decision angered many people. And for good reason, many are once again denouncing the arrival of the Olympic Games in the Capital which would be the origin of numerous implementations.

Many associations did not hesitate to get carried away on this subject, such as Emmaüs France which tweeted on this subject: “From today, it is forbidden to distribute food and drink in several streets of Paris. One of the most shameful and inhumane measures in the range of practices of harassment of the homeless“. Very committed and having participated on several occasions in the Enfoirés tour aimed at collecting donations for the Restos du coeur, Christophe Willem did not fail to take a position on this subject by relaying this publication while adding a short but which says a lot about his thoughts: “No comment…”.
