Good news and bad news. This Tuesday, October 10, 2023, Gérald de Palmas spoke via his Instagram account to let people know that his new album will be released in exactly one month, but that it will be his very last project.
In video, facing the camera, the 55-year-old singer declared: “My new album, ‘Under a Lead Sun’, will be released on Friday, November 10. I put all my energy and all my heart into it, but it will be the last of my career.”
A real shock for his many fans whom the musician did not wish to leave incomprehension. Thus, the interpreter of I still dream continued by explaining the reason why he had decided to retire: “A recurring voice problem leaves me in constant uncertainty, and I never know from one day to the next what the state of my voice will be. It’s manageable for recording because I can choose the moment when I’m at my best, but not to go on tour or promote. Faced with this dilemma, I prefer to stop.”
And to conclude : “I thank you all for following me for over 30 years, and for giving me such a great career.”

A voice problem that he had already mentioned
As a reminder, this is not the first time that the singer, who has lived in Reunion for several years, has mentioned this voice problem. To our colleagues from Le Parisien, Gérald de Palmas confided in August 2023: “The problem is that you never have the same voice twice from one day to the next. It’s exhausting and stressful”he declared while promoting his single Person heralding her eighth and final studio album which will be released on November 10.
