Two days after the launch of a deadly operation on an unprecedented scale by the Hamas terrorist group against Israel, a demonstration was held in Paris, at the call of the Representative Council of Jewish Institutions of France (Crif). At the initiative of Anne Hidalgo, the gathering, which was initially to be held in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, Place d’Italie, was finally moved to Place du Trocadéro, in the 16th, and facing an illuminated Eiffel Tower blue, white and a Star of David.
Nicolas Sarkozy was there despite his legal torments
On site, politicians, personalities, and anonymous people marched together to denounce barbarity. Among them, Ségolène Royal, Valérie Pécresse, Xavier Bertrand, Éric Ciotti, as well as ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy, who came accompanied by his wife Carla Bruni Sarkozy.
The former president, who has just been doubly indicted for “concealment of witness subordination”, came for a good cause. At the microphone of BFMTV, he declared: “Anyone with a minimum of humanity could not help but be shocked by the images we saw.” And to add: “Women, children, civilians, innocent people are today taken hostage, have been tortured and massacred. There is nothing that can justify this. I wanted to demonstrate my opposition to this barbarity and my emotion in front of what happened.”
An ex of Carla Bruni in the procession
Not far from this procession, we also came across the “Nazi hunters, Serge and Beate Klarsfeld, parents of the lawyer Arno Klarsfeld, who was the companion of Carla Bruni. Furthermore, the father of his eldest son, Raphaël Enthoven, was also in the crowd, not far from Tristane Banon, Sophia Aram, and Michel Boujenah.
