The Ohio club were forced to cancel training on Sunday after adding the names of forwards Boone Jenner and Jack Roslovic, as well as defenseman Gabriel Carlsson to the list of players unavailable due to the virus.

It is therefore the twentieth formation of the National Hockey League (NHL) to have at least one skater inconvenienced by the coronavirus.

The Blue Jackets are due to visit the Sabers in Buffalo on Monday night.

Red Wings and Maple Leafs at a standstill

Later that day, the Detroit Red Wings were forced to put their activities on hiatus after four members of their organization entered league protocol regarding the virus.

They are forwards Sam Gagner, Pius Suter and Joe Veleno, as well as video editor Jeff Weintraub. They join six other skaters and two other coaches.

For their part, the Maple Leafs will also be on a forced arrest until December 26, due to “concerns with the large number of positive cases in the last days”. A total of seven skaters and two coaches were battling the virus.

Like the Boston Bruins, Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators and Calgary Flames before them, the Wings will be inactive until the return of the Christmas break.

That means their Thursday clash against the Minnesota Wild will be postponed.

Danault on the list

In Los Angeles, the Kings added Phillip Danault’s name to the list of players with COVID-19.

He is the third player for the Californian club to find himself in this situation, after defenseman Drew Doughty and goaltender Cal Petersen.

Fifth for the points obtained so far with the Kings, the native of Victoriaville has amassed four goals and 10 assists for 14 points in 29 games in 2021-2022.

Separately, the Washington Capitals have indicated that forward TJ Oshie has joined teammates Garnet Hathaway, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Nicklas Backstrom on the list of players unavailable due to COVID-19.

Limited to 14 games so far in 2021-22, Oshie has four goals and seven assists for 11 points.

The “Caps” are measured against the Kings in the evening.

Fucale on the sidelines

The Hershey Bears, the school club in the American Capitals League, have announced goaltender Zachary Fucale is unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols.

The Quebecer was recalled by Washington training on Friday and was returned to the development league on Sunday.

The Laval native played one game – his first in his career – in the NHL this season. He had a 21-save shutout against the Detroit Red Wings on Nov. 11.

With the Bears, Fucale maintained an .889 save rate and a 2.80 goals-against average in eight games.
