It’s a new shadow who hovers at the Remiremont hospital center (Vosges). A 78-year-old patient who came for femoral neck surgery died on Tuesday, October 3. A death described as unexpected by the establishment, which triggered the suspension of scheduled surgical activities.
According to the hospital director, this is a precautionary measure. “Given the general context for months at the Remiremont hospital, it seemed essential to us to check with the teams (…) that all the security conditions were in place.“, indicated the director of the establishment, Dominique Cheveau.
Families demand the truth
A decision which comes at a time when the Vosges hospital has been plunged into turmoil for months. This Remiremont hospital center is the target of 12 complaints from patients’ families, some for involuntary manslaughter. Silvio Zanin is the originator of one of these procedures: he lost his wife in December 2018 while she was hospitalized for acute pancreatitis. “I think that there, they realize that there is really a problem within the hospital”, believes the complainant. The families and patients who filed a complaint say they are looking for one thing above all: the truth.
