After singing homophobic chants on September 24, four PSG players and the club’s management were summoned by the Professional Football League on Thursday October 5. The SOS homophobia association calls for severity.
Homophobic insults in a football stadium… It was last September 24 at the Parc des Princes, during PSG-OM. Parisian supporters are singled out, but also four PSG players. They say they regret having sung insulting songs, like Ousmane Dembélé. “We We sincerely regret the words we should not have said and would like to apologize.”wrote the footballer on
A firm response
The SOS homophobia association calls for severity. “What we are asking for are extremely firm sanctions (…) and an amplification of awareness among football clubs”says Joël Deumierthe co-president of the association. There LFP will also look into homophobic chants launched by Rennes supporters last weekend. The government wants the decisions to be radical in these cases. In 2019, several matches were stopped following homophobic chants. Since then, no sanctions have been taken.
