The two Democratic and Republican candidates for the 2020 American presidential election, Joe Biden and Donald Trump, could meet again in 2024. Already in the campaign, they benefit from the absence of major adversaries in their parties.
Joe Biden on a picket line facing auto industry workers in Michigan (United States), Donald Trump at the same place the next day. The two candidates have the same objective: to capture the popular vote in an electoral campaign which already seems to be well underway. Is the Trump-Biden rematch inevitable? in 2024 ?
Not many alternatives on the Democratic side
On the Republican side, some candidates are trying to stand out, like Ron DeSantis. The ultra-conservative governor of Florida did not hesitate to attack for the first time former President Trump, who was largely absent from the debate for the Republican primary. In the Democratic camp, the alternatives are slim. Vice President Kamala Harris is not popular enough with voters. The governor of California, Gavin Newsom, seems rather to break in for the 2028 presidential election. For the moment, Biden and Trump are neck and neck in the polls.
