(Montreal) A motorcyclist in his seventies was seriously injured after being hit by another vehicle in the municipality of Saint-Gilles, in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.
According to Stéphane Tremblay, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec, the motorcyclist was driving on Route 116, eastbound, a few moments before the collision. He took a turn to join Route 269.
At the same time, around 1:45 p.m., another vehicle was arriving on the same road, heading south, and hit the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital.
A passenger on the motorcycle, also in her seventies, suffered injuries which, however, did not endanger her life.
A security perimeter has been set up to allow specialist collision investigators to do their work.
Traffic moved alternately until the lanes reopened at the end of the afternoon.
