In one photo, we see purple flowers which were allegedly photographed in Antarctica, according to social networks. For many Internet users, it is a symbol of global warming which is hitting the region. Is this nevertheless true?

In one image we see flowers violet that one might believe to be spring And, a few hundred meters further, imposing icebergs. For many Internet users, this is the symbol of global warming which is hitting Antarctica. Is this a real image? No, but however, the photo is not a montage. These flowers really exist, but they grow thousands of kilometers from Antarctica, in western Greenland.

A link with global warming

The photo is available in an image bank, where the region where it was taken is listed: the bay of Disko. There is nevertheless vegetation in Antarctica: the Antarctic sagina and the Antarctic cane. In a study published in 2022, Italian scientists made the link between their proliferation and climate changes. So there are many plants in Antarctica, and there are more and more of them due to increasing temperatures.
