Paris police chief Laurent Nuñez decided not to open an administrative investigation into the police officer who drew his weapon to force back demonstrators while his car was attacked during a march against police violence on Saturday September 23 in Paris, Franceinfo learned on Monday September 24 from a source close to the matter.
Moreover, “the police chief called each of the officials” who were in the car “to congratulate them and express support,” Franceinfo learned from a close source.
Three police officers slightly injured
Saturday, during this demonstration starting from the Gare du Nord, this car, stuck in traffic on Boulevard de Clichy, was attacked “with an iron bar”, the Paris police headquarters indicated on Sunday. One of the police officers then briefly got out of the vehicle, gun in hand, to keep the demonstrators at bay.
Four police officers were in the vehicle and three of them were “lightly injured” to the cervical, said Laurent Nuñez on Saturday. An investigation for “intentional violence against persons holding public authority” was entrusted to territorial security, the Paris prosecutor’s office said on Sunday. Three people were taken into custody.
