the New Year’s Eve market is back

This weekend of December 18 and 19, Saint-Bris-le-Vineux is organizing its traditional New Year’s market. After a 2020 edition canceled due to Covid, exhibitors are back and not just anywhere: this market has the particularity of being held … in the cellars of the town’s wine growers!

Delighted visitors

The atmosphere is subdued and soft in the cellars of Saint-Bris. Visitors wander between the stands. There is of course wine, but also textiles and food. Tony is a regular, and for him, it’s always very special to come.

I know a lot about wine and I love this Christmas atmosphere. I also like to taste wine in a cellar. It must be said that this is not trivial: we drink wine that sleeps here all year round“he confides, delighted.

For Corinne, this is the first time on the market. “I am dazzled! Everything pleases me, here, it’s so beautiful and original! The decoration, the atmosphere and the exhibitors” she says.

Make the village known

After a canceled 2020 edition, Covid-19 obliges, the exhibitors are delighted to be able to come back to the town and participate in the event.

Marie Goisot is the co-owner of one of the cellars which hosts this market. “It is a very important event for our village. Everything that is sold here is local. This market helps us to keep the town alive, to make ourselves known“she explains, her eyes twinkling.

This year, eleven winegrowers came to exhibit and sell their bottles and around fifty icaunais artisans also made the trip.
