One more increase for this year: that of complementary health insurance. According to the annual study by Meilleurtaux assurances, those over 60 are experiencing the largest increase this year. They have to pay on average almost 5% more than last year.

Very concretely, for coverage with “reinforced guarantees”, this represents an additional cost of 3,032 euros on average over the year. And this varies greatly depending on the department. This figure exceeds 3,300 euros in the Alpes-Maritimes and Bouches-du-Rhône and even reaches a little over 4,000 euros in Île-de-France.

The increase will be even greater next year

Although this increase is significant, it remains “moderate”, warn the authors of this study who explain that the increase should exceed 10% next year. This is firstly explained by the aging of the population. But we must also look at the impact of the “100% health” reform fully deployed over the past 2 years. It offers a no-cost offer in optics and dental and hearing aids.

This reform is largely financed by complementary health insurance, and the government plans to extend the system to hair prostheses and wheelchairs from January 1, 2024, which will generate other costs.
