The Red Arrow enters the station. On Saturday December 18, the Italian national company entered into competition with the TGV by running its first Paris-Milan trains, with stops in Lyon (Rhône), Chambéry (Savoie), Modane (Savoie), Turin. SNCF no longer has a monopoly on the high-speed network.

In Paris, Gare de Lyon, Saturday, December 18, a historic moment on track C. This red high-speed train is Italian, alongside the TGV and the SNCF. Trenitalia is a new high-speed competitor on the French rail network. The one called the Red Arrow sets off for Milan. On board, passengers will discover Italian-style comfort. “There are plugs everywhere, it’s comfortable”, appreciates a passenger. What attracts these first customers are the attractive prices, starting at 23 euros in standard class for a Paris-Lyon.

A silent compartment for the business class at 29 euros, where tranquility prevails. At this price, Italian coffee is offered, a pleasant surprise for travelers unaccustomed to this welcome. More chic and more expensive, the executive class 139 euros on the Paris-Lyon line, meals included, with a meeting room and large leather armchairs. For the moment, Trenitalia starts with two Paris-Lyon round trips per day, against 24 for the SNCF.
